The game

The game will be based above all on the absorption of a basic mechanic, the throwing of the torch, and the repetition and expansion of the same, but always maintaining

a single user interaction, so that that torch interacts in different ways with the environment and solving puzzles, but always in the same way, leaving little complexity in the interactions.

The objective of the game is for the user to stop and think about solving the enigma that is presented to them, without any pressure, so that the environment and the music accompany them in this feeling of relaxation and concentration.

The Lore

Aki Maku, our brave protagonist from the Akaku tribe, found himself in an unexpected situation. The gods of their homeland were being corrupted by a dark and mysterious force, which threatened to plunge their world into eternal darkness. One day, while exploring the coast in search of answers, a mysterious orb, glowing with celestial fire, chose him as the bearer of the Soulfire Torch.

This sacred orb became his guide on this odyssey to free the gods and save his land. Aki Maku began his journey through the realms of the gods, following the ancient paths believed in forgotten legends.

On his way, Aki Maku encountered a series of challenging puzzles. With the help of soul fire, an ancient energy that flowed through him thanks to the torch, he solved every riddle that stood in his way. Every time he freed a god, he gained a portion of their power and knowledge, bringing him one step closer to his goal.

The gods were guardians of specific elements in Hawaiian mythology, and Aki Maku needed the strength of the four main gods and the supreme king of them all, Kane, to defeat the dark threat of Oktokio.

Playing the HTML version and I haven't had any performance issues. I think the torch throw/recall mechanic is really well implemented, when it is usually done awkwardly. Everything looks really nicely polished.

I'm in the room which the YouYube trailer indicates is a boss fight, but nothing is getting triggered.

Great looking game and the controls feel fantastic.

Thanks a bunch for your kind words :) Yeah, there's a boss, but it seems that in our tricky mission to optimize the game, the boss mysteriously got deactivated. Not sure why, but it's all sorted and solved now thanks to you. Really appreciate you testing it out!

hi , im afraid it doesnt run properly - its very slow and jerky and i cant get past the first screen ... after a while it then just freezes up .

We are sorry to hear that, we don't know what the issue might because we have done exhaustive tests before realising in multiple hardware and we did not get bad results on performance, can you maybe provide with us with your computer specs so we can further investigate the problem? Were you running it to win or Mac?

HP laptop

Processor    Intel(R) Pentium(R) Gold 7505 @ 2.00GHz   2.00 GHz

Installed RAM    4.00 GB (3.68 GB usable)

running on windows . using firefox browser

is that enough info ?

thanks

Thanks a lot, it's definitely a high CPU usage issue we didn't notice, for now we made available a download Desktop version so maybe it runs a little bit smoother, but we are investigating more ways to optimize CPU usage, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

The project has been updated to consume much less CPU & GPU we would love if you could try it again and give us feedback :) sorry for the inconvenience

I tried it in ff, chrome and edge. Best running in edge but still a little jerky. I struggled a bit with figuring out the torch thingy. Hold right mouse button to summon it to you (into your hand), click left mouse button to throw. The boss: get up and don't go down. You can light the lower torches by throwing and not fully summoning your torch (intermittent right clickright click).

tried again. now it runs fine in ff (but not in fullscrean). One little issue: if you move but not move your mouse, the cursor stays in the same position in the environment while the camera moves. Once you move your mouse a little it appears in position of the cursor.
